Okay, so in the spirit of sharing and flavin and stuff, I submit for your approval the only Wonka-type ficcage I've managed to write so far.

There will be more, as soon as I gather my scattered thoughts. I promise.

I ventured into the land where many fear to tread, armed with nothing but a hefty 2x4, that most horribly dark pit of darkness...Fanfiction.net...And it turned out pretty much like I expected. Mary-Sue fics left, right and centre, but strangely not that much slash. For which I am eternally grateful.

(My name is Moose, by the way. I shake you warmly by the hand. 'Tis a pleasure to be here.)

BUT! There were some fics that weren't horrible! Mostly the ones based on the earlier movie. Hmmm. There's a fun parody of Wonka-Sue's in general here... http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2524874/1/

An awesome explanation of that weird half-room in the '71 movie here...http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2518908/1/

And a silly little poem about why we fangirl Wonka (despite his many faults) here... http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2542986/1/

That's my contribution to the nearly microscopic fund of good stuff here. I'll keep an eyeball out for more, though, mebbe we can bring light back to the fandom.

It came, it demanded to be drawn or else, and it left*. I give you... a badly-drawn stick-figure cartoon!

*this happens frequently with me.

*shambles in* I just posted a rant about a link fishbulb33 sent to me.

WARNING, the rant contains a lot of cursing, and the link is just plain disturbing.

Remember guys, if you find some good/fun fan art around, be sure to spread the joy around and link!

Here's a few pics I've found that I like very much:

Just out of curiousity, but what C&TCF memorabilia does everybody have?

I have a nice book with both original Dahl Charlie & Wonka stories in it, the original movie on tape somewhere, a t-shirt, an awesome poster from the current movie and a few magnets. You can see the poster here if you're so inclined.

Um, hi!

Well! ...Good morning, starshine?

Excellent idea for a community, the world needs this place. As a humble offering, I drop off a picture that the great yumegari drew and I botched by coloring it. But it is, to make a horrid and unimaginative pun, sweet.

Depp's version of Willie Wonka, Vianne from Chocolat, and their kitty, Theobromine, in Venice.

I agree with Yume and LRH - they sure would get along quite nicely. I wonder what Willie sees in the magic spinning disc?

Hi! Not quite sure how to introduce this... I recently saw the movie again with some friends and bought the soundtrack, so my Wonka obsession has been refueled ^^ Hence, fanart!

Pics under here - watch out, they're kinda bigCollapse )

Randomly, what's everyone's favorite part(s) of the new movie?

Now, folks, don't be shy. You don't have to just lurk, here, if you have something on your mind, feel free to share it! :) Art, writing, general comments, whatever. We want to hear from you!

Also, let's spread the word and make this place at least a little bigger, eh? If you like Minusland, mention it in your personal journal. Link it elsewhere. Tell friends. If you're a Dahlist, let the world know and try a bit of converting! :)

I mean, don't go trying to force people or anything like that. But if you know somebody that would be genuinely interested...tell 'em. :)

Something that came up the other day:

The kids (sans Charlie) all seem to represent one or more of the Seven Deadly Sins. That got me thinking of Dahl's rather odd social commentary that more than a few reviewers have said this book is more or less simply a vehicle for.

What d'you guys think?
